see-through theropods

Fantastic x-ray photography by Nick Veasey makes anatomy (and other things) visible in startling visuals. My favorites include the chicken above and the bat below the fold.


Something very interesting is going above each of the legs… seems like a fold in an otherwise tautly stretched wing membrane. Perhaps some sort of stress-catching cartilage?

Does look odd, though… it causes a fold in the otherwise taut wing membrane.
